I’ve been shooting for the North By North East Festival for the past 5 years. If you’re not familiar with the festival, it’s a multi-venue, multi-media event that takes place in downtown Toronto over the course of one week in June every year. The festival encompasses music, film, art and comedy, my general focus is usually on the music. This year, not only was I lucky enough to shoot at Massey Hall, I got to shoot the band Spiritualized. Spiritualized have been around for 24 years and released 7 albums, including the stellar Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, it was a definitely a highlight of the festival for me. As with every year, I was also scheduled to shoot bands I hadn’t heard of before, getting the chance to discover some new music. Though I must say, my favorite part of these festivals is when I can find a daytime event. This year I stumbled across the Audio Blood Roof Top Rager, beer, live music and sunshine, it doesn’t get much better than that!

Photos are as follows; Tobacco, Tuneyards, Spiritualized, fireworks and concert goers outside Massey Hall, Barr Brothers, Paquin Showcase at the Dakota Tavern, Audio Blood Roof Top Rager, Laurel, Mac DeMarco.
